Frozen Nail Art

Okay, so I think we all have heard just a little bit too much about Frozen recently but it is a great movie, and here is my contribution to the hype: a Frozen themed manicure. You may notice Olaf looks a little funny, this is because when I finally got it EXACTLY the way I wanted him, I put topcoat on and it smeared him :( I tried my best to fix it, and I hope you enjoy this anyway.

For this manicure, I used the polishes Essie Borrowed & Blue, NYC Raindrops, Wet N' Wild I Need a Refresh-Mint, and Essie Bikini so Teeny for the background (I used the sandwich bag watercolor technique) for everything else I used Wet N' Wild French White Creme, a black striper and I did some glitter placement with Sephora by OPI Flurry Up!

Thanks so much to Stephanie for requesting this post and I hope you liked it!

My Zoya Collection: Reds

Zoya is my favorite brand of nail polish because not only are their colors beautiful, their formulas are amazing too. I will be swatching my whole collection of Zoya nail polishes and today I have the red polishes. All of these nail polishes are still available since Zoya rarely discontinues their polishes. You will probably notice that my skin drastically changes colors throughout the post, this is because I had to color correct the photos quite a bit to make the polishes the right color (my camera hates red).

Pepper is a brick red creme with a brown undertone, I love this one, it reminds me of fall. I used two coats.
Rekha is a classic red with a blue undertone, its not quite as bright in person. I used two coats.

Sarah is a blue toned red with tons of gold shimmer. On the nail, the shimmer doesn't look gold like it does in the bottle, instead it takes on a more pinkish tone due to the red base, it's lovely regardless. I used two coats.

Dakota is a blood red crelly, for this photo I used three coats but you could definitely get away with two.

These polishes are available though Zoya's website or you can get them at Ulta.

Up! Nail Art

I think Up is my favorite animated movie of all time. The animation is stunning, the plot is captivating and the characters are just as great. So here is what is probably the most famous still from the movie (the flying house) in nail art form.

For this manicure I used Essie Borrowed and Blue as my base color, for the main house color I used Revlon Buttercup, the rest of the polishes I used are Wet N' Wild French White Crème, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Coral Reef, Wet N' Wild Megalast I Need a Refresh-mint, Essie Bikini so Teeny, and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Berry Juicy.

Left thumb detail

I decided to do clouds on my right hand since I would never be able to do the house and everything with my non-dominant hand.

I am still experimenting with lighting so that is why all of the pictures look a little different. A side note about Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue (one of the balloon colors) in case you haven't heard yet: This color has recently been changed from the vibrant, yet dusty cobalt blue color we all love to a shimmery darker blue color, however the name remains the same. So if you don't have this color yet and want it, or have it and want a backup, I would suggest looking for the old version at the store before they are all gone! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you for visiting!

Past Nail Art

My obsession with nail art seemingly started in 2011, at least that is the first time I took a picture of my nail art. From there I have thankfully gotten better at doing my nails. This is most of the nail art pictures I could find from 2011 to the end of 2013. The image quality is absolutely terrible on most of the pictures (sorry!) due to the fact that I took most of them with my IPod 4th Generation camera. I promise my future posts will have better quality images! This post is in chronological order. Anyway, this is going to be a super long post so I will stop rambling. Onto the nail art!

Okay, so first we have my bee manicure inspired by a pin I saw in 2011 with the backdrop of a paper towel and some paints (classy, I know).

2012
(those are pandas)

A lavender mismatched manicure using Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Lacey Lilac and Wet N' Wild French White Crème

Christmas 2012: penguins and hearts for this I used Wet N' Wild French White Crème, Wet N' Wild Kaleidoscope and acrylic paint. I cant remember what the blue polish is, sorry.

2013
A glitter gradient using Maybelline Color Show Impeccable Greys (this color isn't accurate in the picture, it is actually a dark gray) and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Rockstar Pink.

For this one I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Mint Sorbet, Revlon Bubblegum, Revlon Posh, and a white striper.

Looking back, this one is a bit reminiscent of fried eggs, haha, but they are supposed to be flowers. I used Maybelline Color Show Sapphire Siren and Wet N' Wild French White Creme.

For this one I used Finger Paints Easel-y Entertained, Wet N' Wild Black Creme, and Wet N' Wild W French White Creme.

For this mismatched manicure I used Sally Hansen Xtreme wear in Mint Sorbet, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Lacey Lilac, Revlon Bubblegum, Revlon Posh, Wet N' Wild French White Creme, and Wet N' Wild Black Creme.

For this nail art I was inspired by a post from Pshiiit. Both of the pictures below are from the same manicure, I did an ombre on my right hand because there was no hope of doing that intricate nail art with my non-dominant hand. Anyway, I used Maybelline Color Show Poolside, Maybelline Color Show Sapphire Siren, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue, Wet N' Wild French White Creme and Maybelline Color Show in Blue Freeze.

For this one I used Pure Ice Shell Pink and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Golden-I which I believe has been changed since I bought my bottle.

For this manicure I used the Nimbus tutorial from the Nailasaurus. The nail polishes I used are Wet N' Wild French White Creme, NYC Raindrops, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Lacey Lilac, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue, Maybelline Color Show Sapphire Siren and China Glaze Fairy Dust.

This nail art was for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. I used Sally Hansen Black Diamond, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Golden-I, Wet N' Wild Red Red, and Maybelline Color Show Fierce N Tangy.

This manicure was inspired by the Christmas Starbucks cups. I used Wet N' Wild Red Red, Revlon Red Carpet, and gold and white nail art markers.

I wore this manicure on Christmas 2013, I was inspired by a post from Current Fixation. I used Revlon Red Carpet and Wet N' Wild French White Creme.

Whew. That was a really long post. I will begin posting my new nail art and swatches soon!

Hi, Welcome to my Blog!

Hello, I'm Kayla. I have been contemplating starting a blog for a long time and after years of following countless other blogs, I've decided to finally make one of my own. I am a nail polish addict, and if you are here then you probably are too. I will be posting nail art, swatches, and probably the occasional tutorial. Scheduling is not my forte so my posts will probably be erratic at first and I apologize in advance. I hope someone will find this blog helpful and thank you for visiting!
Happy painting!
-Kayla
